Muslim leaders Boycott Netanyahu’s speech, Leave hall empty during UNGA

NEW YORK: Muslim leaders staged a walkout during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), leaving the hall almost empty.

As Netanyahu began his address, leaders from Muslim and Arab countries left the hall in protest, showing their opposition to Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza and Palestine. The boycott turned the hall nearly vacant, while those who remained inside raised their voices in protest against Netanyahu.

The move highlighted the growing anger among Muslim nations over Israel’s actions, which leaders have called brutal and unacceptable.

However, the hall filled again when Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif delivered his speech. Muslim and Arab leaders returned to attend his address, where he strongly spoke about the issues of Palestine and Kashmir and condemned Israel’s aggression.

The walkout sent a powerful message of unity from Muslim countries, making it clear that they would not remain silent on the oppression of Palestinians.
