New York: Addressing an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani strongly condemned Israel’s recent attack, calling it a serious threat to regional peace and stability.

The Qatari Prime Minister stated that the attack occurred at a time when Qatar was seriously considering U.S.-backed proposals, making the strike a blatant insult to international diplomatic efforts.

He emphasized that the Israeli strike caused both human and financial losses to Qatar, and that the attack took place within Qatari territory — a clear act of aggression against a sovereign state. “Qatar has every right under international law to respond to this attack,” he said.

Criticizing Israeli leadership, Al Thani said, “Israeli leaders show no regard for the lives of hostages, and their actions are further destabilizing the region.” He accused Israel of deliberately undermining peace efforts through these aggressive moves.

Defending Qatar’s diplomatic role, he said, “Qatar has always prioritized peace and negotiations. The world recognized our role in hosting political talks with the Taliban in Doha, and we continue to advocate for diplomacy as the path to resolving conflicts.”

Al Thani called on the international community to take effective action against Israeli aggression and urged serious efforts toward establishing lasting peace in the Middle East.

Condemning the recent Israeli attack in the strongest terms, he concluded, “This strike is not only a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty but also a blatant disregard for the principles of global diplomacy.”

On the other side speaking at the session, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar strongly condemned the Israeli aggression. He stated that the attack on Qatar was a blatant violation of the UN Charter and international law.

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar emphasized that Israel had deliberately targeted a mediator engaged in peace efforts, referring to Qatar’s active role in facilitating dialogue in the region. “This was not only an attack on a sovereign state, but also a direct assault on international diplomacy,” he said.

He highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had recently visited Qatar with a high-level delegation, reaffirming Pakistan’s strong support for Qatar’s role as a peace broker.

“Pakistan stands in full support of Qatar’s mediation efforts and reaffirms its unwavering support for a two-state solution to the Palestine issue,” the ambassador stated.
