QUETTA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday arrested 60 individuals attempting to illegally travel to Iran via sea routes.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the detainees were apprehended from Jiwani during an operation. The arrested persons include nine from Gujranwala, 19 from Malakand, 16 from Bannu, nine from Lower Dir, three from Upper Dir, and two from Mardan.
The spokesperson said that four separate cases have been registered against the accused, and investigations are underway.
Earlier, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested 12 passengers attempting to travel illegally to Europe.
According to the FIA Director, the Immigration Cell conducted an operation at Sialkot Airport, during which the passengers were offloaded and taken into custody. He added that the suspects had planned to travel from Uganda to Libya and then proceed illegally to Europe.
Director FIA said the suspects had visas to Uganda on the passport and they were in contact with agents, the accused belonged to Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot and Sheikhupura.
