Jung Kook, the youngest member of the internationally acclaimed K-pop group BTS, opened up about his mental health during a recent birthday live stream. The singer shared with fans that he has been diagnosed with ADHD, adding a personal and emotional layer to an otherwise celebratory event.
The 28-year-old artist, often referred to by fans as the “Golden Maknae,” went live on the fan platform Weverse to mark his birthday with a mini-concert and a candid Q&A session. During the live stream, Jung Kook thanked his parents for bringing him into the world and expressed deep gratitude to fans for their love and birthday wishes. He also pledged to live a healthy, meaningful life while continuing to take care of himself both mentally and physically.
While responding to fans’ comments during the session, one user asked him to stay still, pointing out his constant movement. Jung Kook responded honestly, saying:
“I’m sorry. It’s hard for me to sit still… I have ADHD.”
He added that he sometimes struggles with restlessness but is learning to manage it.
Jung Kook’s disclosure comes at a time when mental health conversations are gaining more visibility, especially in the entertainment industry. His openness was met with overwhelming support from fans, who praised his honesty and vulnerability.
As the youngest of BTS’s seven members alongside RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V, Jung Kook has often been admired not just for his talent, but for his sincerity and connection with fans. His heartfelt admission adds to his reputation as an artist who’s unafraid to speak about personal challenges.
BTS recently returned to the spotlight following the members’ completion of their mandatory military service. The group is currently preparing for a highly anticipated comeback album, set to release next year.
Jung Kook’s moment of honesty not only strengthened his bond with fans but also contributed to a broader dialogue about mental health showing that even global superstars are not immune to the struggles many face in everyday life.
