Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is emerging as a powerful global platform and is promoting a new model of international relations.

Speaking at a welcome dinner during the SCO summit in Tianjin, Xi Jinping emphasized that the organization plays a vital role in turning the vision of a shared future for humanity into reality.

He noted that the current summit would inject new energy into regional unity, cooperation, and the development and prosperity of member states. Xi expressed confidence that with joint efforts from all parties, the summit would achieve complete success and that the SCO would continue to play an even more prominent role in the future.

Highlighting Tianjin’s role as a pioneer city of China’s reforms, Xi said hosting the summit there would give fresh momentum to the sustainable growth of the SCO.

The SCO summit is currently underway in Tianjin, with around 20 world leaders in attendance, including heads of state and government from Central, South, and Southeast Asia as well as the Middle East. Xi Jinping described the summit as a significant milestone in advancing global peace.
