Sindh Govt launches Pakistan’s First EV pink scooters for women with driving licenses

Karachi: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has announced that women with valid driving licenses will be given free pink scooters by the end of next month.

Speaking on a morning show Bakhabar Sawera, he said the Sindh government is introducing Pakistan’s first electric pink scooter project for women.

According to Memon, the first phase of the scheme received around 10,000 applications. Out of these, only about 150 women already have full driving licenses, while the rest are applying for learner permits.

He added that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will work with the Sindh government to provide training and pay the driving license fees for women. If more than 1,000 scooters are ready, the government will hold a balloting process to decide the recipients.

Memon further said that each woman will also get free training and a helmet along with the scooter.

Highlighting other projects, he mentioned that work on the BRT is complete, while two more transport schemes are in progress. By September, more electric buses and double-decker buses will also be added to Karachi’s public transport system.
