Pakistan to honor 10 sports stars with civil awards

ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has announced civil awards for several prominent figures in recognition of their outstanding contributions to sports.

According to details, the honors will be conferred on 10 sports personalities, including former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi, who brought glory to the nation through their dedication, hard work and remarkable achievements on the international stage.

These honors are being given to recognize their outstanding achievements and dedicated efforts in bringing national pride to the country on the international stage. In total, 10 renowned athletes and figures from various sports will be honored.

Among the top honorees, former cricket captain Shahid Khan Afridi, mountaineer Shehroz Kashif, and the late equestrian Malik Muhammad Atta will be awarded the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz.

 

 

Meanwhile, former women’s cricket captain Sana Mir and Paralympian discus thrower Haider Ali are set to receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Additionally, squash player Hamza Khan, shooter Mohsin Nawaz, and tennis player Rashid Malik will be honored with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

 

In addition, martial artist Shahzaib Rind and Kabaddi player Muhammad Sajjad will be given the Pride of Performance award for their exceptional contributions.

 

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 23, 2026, to coincide with Pakistan Day.
