PCB unveils extensive calendar for Pakistan Women’s Team

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the comprehensive calendar for the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Season 2025-26, promising a busy and challenging period for the national team and aspiring young cricketers.

The schedule features a mix of international tours, home series, and crucial domestic tournaments, including participation in two ICC World Cups.

The national women’s team is set for an action-packed year kicking off with a tour to Ireland in August for a three-match T20 International series.

This will be followed by South Africa Women’s team touring Pakistan in September, where they will play three One Day Internationals in Lahore from September 16 to 22.

A major highlight of the season is the Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place from September 30 to November 2, with the Pakistan Women’s team playing their matches in Sri Lanka.

In early 2026, the Pakistan Women’s team will embark on a tour of South Africa from February 7 to March 2, which will include three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals.

Later in April 2026 the Zimbabwe Women’s cricket team will visit Pakistan for a series comprising three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals, running from April 24 to May 11.

The Women’s T20 World Cup is slated for June 12 to July 5, 2026, in England. Ahead of this marquee event the Pakistan team will participate in a tri-nation T20 series in Ireland featuring Pakistan and West Indies.

Focusing on nurturing future talent the Pakistan Under-19 Women’s team will tour Bangladesh in December for a five-match T20 series.

The domestic calendar is equally robust. The National Women’s One Day Tournament is scheduled for November 6 to 24 in Karachi, while the National Women’s T20 Tournament will be held from March 24 to April 17, 2026, also in Karachi. Both national tournaments will be played in a double-league format.

The Women’s Under-19 T20 Tournament is set for September 15 to October 6 in Karachi. Additionally, a Women’s Inter-University Cricket Tournament is scheduled for October this year.

Head of Women’s Cricket, Rafia Haider, expressed optimism about the upcoming season. She stated that the 2025-26 schedule will provide “excellent opportunities for players to compete.”

Haider emphasized the strengthening of the Pathways Program to bring forward young talent, highlighting the Under-19 tournament and the Bangladesh tour as significant opportunities for youngsters.

She acknowledged the importance of the new season with “two major events like the World Cups ahead” and believes that playing against “good opponents will improve the performance of the players.” Haider also confirmed that discussions are ongoing to include a departmental tournament in women’s cricket.
