LAHORE:  At least of five people were killed and two other injured in a tragic roof collapse incident in Thokar Niaz Baig area of Lahore.

According to rescue officials, the roof of a house collapsed due to the heavy rain, trapping the family members underneath.

The emergency teams rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies and the injured from the debris. Heavy rainfall in Lahore and surrounding areas caused widespread urban flooding

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their condition is said to be critical.

Overnight downpours submerged several main roads across Lahore, severely affecting traffic and daily life. According to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), the highest rainfall was recorded in Pani Wala Talab at 171 millimeters, followed by 169 millimeters in Iqbal Town.

WASA teams have been deployed to clear water from low-lying areas, but several neighborhoods remained waterlogged by morning. Authorities have advised residents to stay cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.

Five people of the same family were killed when a roof collapsed in the area of Thokar Niaz Baig area, including 2 girls, 2 women and a man while two people were injured.

According to rescue officials, the victims identified as 60 years-old Manga, 55 -year –old Ishrat,  3 -year -old Khadija, 4 -year -old Latifa and 35 -year -old Rani.

Rescue officials say the injured include 30 -year -old Faisal and 5 -year -old Bubble.

Similarly, Patoki, Okara, Sahiwal, Chichawatni, Mian Chann, Sargodha, Sialkot, Gujarat, and several areas of Punjab also received intermittent rains.
