Speculation is growing after Iran’s Defense Minister was seen inspecting Chinese J-10C fighter jets during his official visit to China. A photo of the visit, shared by a respected defense news account, has gone viral and sparked global attention.
The J-10C is the same advanced fighter jet used by Pakistan in May 2025, when it reportedly shot down at least six Indian aircraft. Iran’s interest in the jet suggests it is actively working to strengthen its air force, especially after recent U.S. attacks on its nuclear facilities.
Tehran is now exploring a major defense deal with China, which could include the purchase of J-10C fighter jets, pilot training, and air defense systems. Some experts suggest that Iran may offer oil in exchange for these weapons, raising the possibility of a large-scale “oil-for-arms” agreement.

Adding fuel to the speculation, U.S. President Donald Trump recently mocked Iran, saying the country will now need money to rebuild. He also remarked that China could consider buying oil from Iran, hinting at a potential barter deal.
While no official deal has been confirmed, signs point to a strong “yes.” Iran is looking to reorganize and upgrade its air power quickly, and China’s J-10C fighter jets may soon play a key role in that plan.
