Karachi shopping mall fire brought under control

KARACHI: A fire that broke out at shopping mall on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi been successfully extinguished on Wednesday.

According to Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan, no casualties were reported in the incident.

The fire erupted at a shopping mall located on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road in the early hours on Wednesday .

According to a Rescue Spokesperson, sated that the blaze originated from the surveillance room on the third floor of the mall. The fire quickly spread, engulfing parts of the building and several shops inside.

Six fire tenders are currently engaged in firefighting efforts to bring the blaze under control.

Residents of an adjacent residential building evacuated the premises as a precaution.

According to a spokesperson for Rescue 1122, the fire at the shopping center spread rapidly due to a non-functional fire alarm system, despite its presence in the building.

The fire reportedly originated in the building’s control room and quickly spread across the third floor, affecting nearly 150 shops. The first and second floors were partially damaged.

The spokesperson added that security guards were present in the mall when the fire broke out. Firefighters have since brought the blaze under control, and the cooling process has been completed.
