SYDNEY: Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced his retirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket.
According to Cricket Australia, Maxwell will now focus on the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Australian cricketer played 149 ODI matches, scoring 3,990 runs.
Maxwell stated that he had an in-depth discussion with Chief Selector George Bailey before making the decision, adding that his ODI career had been full of ups and downs.
Glenn Maxwell has represented Australia in 149 ODIs.
On the other hand, amid ongoing Pakistan-India tensions, India continues to make efforts to undermine Pakistan.
In this context, the first major development is the quiet postponement of the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup cricket tournament, which was scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from June 3.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has not made any official announcement regarding the matter, but reliable sources suggest that the tournament will not take place due to India’s lack of interest.
A senior official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Salman Naseer, had a meeting with ACC officials in Dubai last week regarding the situation.
