Karachi records below-average temperature in March amid dry weather

Karachi experienced a significant drop in temperature during March, falling 6.3°C below the city’s average, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The normal average temperature for March is 19.4°C, but last night, the minimum temperature was recorded at 13.1°C.

The city remains under extremely dry conditions, with humidity levels at just 13%. Light, dry winds from the northeast continue to blow at a slow pace. Today’s maximum temperature is expected to range between 30°C and 31°C, with dry conditions likely to persist for the next 24 hours.

According to the Met Office, nighttime temperatures across different parts of Karachi stayed below normal. The lowest temperature was recorded in Mauripur at 10°C, followed by Jinnah Terminal at 11.5°C, Port Qasim at 13.6°C, Gulistan-e-Johar at 13.2°C, and Sharea Faisal at 12.5°C.

A similar weather trend was observed across Sindh, where temperatures remained lower than usual, with several areas reporting single-digit figures.

Mohenjo Daro recorded 3°C, 11.1°C below its typical March average. Mithi saw 3.5°C, while Mirpurkhas and Chhor recorded 7°C. Jacobabad reported 8°C, and Shaheed Benazirabad recorded 7.5°C.

Additionally, Sukkur, Sakrand, and Paddidan also recorded temperatures of 7.5°C, as unseasonably cold weather persisted across the province.
