Seven years have passed since Sridevi, one of Indian cinema’s biggest stars, passed away on February 24, 2018. On her death anniversary, in a recent interview, her younger daughter, actor Khushi Kapoor, admitted that she missed her late mother during her big-screen debut. She shared, “My mom dedicated herself entirely to acting, starting when she was barely four.”
In a conversation with Khushi Kapoor shared that her mother had devoted her life to acting, starting her career at just four years old. The 24-year-old added that she and her sister, actor Janhvi Kapoor, feel immense pride in their mother’s legacy and emphasized that she will always hold a significant place in their lives.
Khushi Kapoor, who recently debuted on the big screen with “Loveyapa”, revealed that she deeply missed her mother when she watched herself on screen for the first time.
She addressed the frequent comparisons to Sridevi, stating that she could never match her mother, even in a hundred years. She emphasized that Sridevi was one of a kind, belonging to a unique league of artists rarely seen today.
Sharing her most vivid memory of her mother, Khushi says, “I remember accompanying her to New York for English Vinglish (2012). She had to perform a dance sequence in a chiffon saree, and she was shivering because of the cold, but she completed the scene to perfection. She simply adored her craft.”
One of Indian cinema’s most iconic actresses, Sridevi, built a remarkable legacy with her versatile performances. She captivated audiences with her grace and talent in classics like “Chandni”, “Mr. India”, “Lamhe”, “ChaalBaaz”, and “Sadma”.
She delivered a powerful performance in her last full-fledged film, “Mom” (2017), which earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress posthumously. She also briefly appeared in “Zero” (2018), released after her passing.
