Russia launches largest drone attack on Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated on Sunday that Russia carried out its biggest drone assault of the war, launching over 200 drones in a single night. Condemning Russia’s “aerial terror,” he urged Ukraine’s allies to remain united.

“Every day, our people resist aerial terror,” Zelenskiy wrote on X. He revealed that on the eve of the third anniversary of the full-scale war, Russia launched 267 attack drones—the largest drone strike since Iranian-made drones began hitting Ukrainian cities and villages.

Ukraine’s air force reported that 138 drones were shot down, while another 119 were jammed and disappeared from radars. Additionally, Russia fired three ballistic missiles. Damage was reported in five regions across Ukraine.

For months, Moscow has been conducting near-nightly large-scale drone strikes, aiming to weaken Ukraine’s air defenses.

Zelenskiy further stated that in the past week alone, Russia launched nearly 1,150 attack drones, over 1,400 guided aerial bombs, and 35 missiles of various types at Ukraine. He praised Ukraine’s air defense forces and emphasized the need for global support to achieve a just and lasting peace.

“This can only be achieved through the unity of all partners—we need the strength of all of Europe, America, and everyone who seeks lasting peace,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, tensions have risen between Kyiv and its European allies following recent comments by U.S. President Donald Trump criticizing Zelenskiy, as well as a U.S.-Russia meeting in Riyadh that excluded Ukraine.
