Vivo is set to launch its latest foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 4, in the second quarter of this year. According to leaks, the device will feature significant design changes compared to its predecessors.
Vivo X Fold 4 to ditch in-screen fingerprint sensor
Unlike previous Vivo foldable phones, which had dual in-screen fingerprint sensors, the X Fold 4 is expected to come with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Earlier models, like the X Fold and X Fold+, used optical in-screen sensors, while the X Fold 2 introduced an ultrasonic scanner.
The switch to a side-mounted sensor is reportedly aimed at making the phone thinner, potentially achieving a slim 8mm profile.
Rumored Specifications
Leaks suggest the Vivo X Fold 4 will pack impressive hardware, including:
- 6,000mAh battery with wireless charging
- Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset for powerful performance
- IPX8 water resistance for added durability
- Triple 50MP camera setup (main, ultra-wide, and periscope telephoto with 3x zoom)
Vivo is not the only company making this shift. Other brands like Oppo, Honor, and Huawei are also expected to adopt side-mounted fingerprint sensors in their upcoming foldable smartphones.
With these upgrades, the Vivo X Fold 4 is shaping up to be a powerful and sleek foldable device, offering users better battery life, camera performance, and durability.
