PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported its second Monkeypox (Mpox) case of the year, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 11.
According to Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali, the provincial health department identified the second Monkeypox (Mpox) case of the year at Bacha Khan International Airport.
Since 2022, a total of 11 Monkeypox (Mpox) cases have been reported in the province.
The Public Health Reference Lab has confirmed Monkeypox (Mpox) in a five-month-old baby girl who arrived at Peshawar Airport from Qatar with her parents.
Following the confirmation of the virus in the baby, the health department has initiated diagnostic tests on her parents.

He was addressing the symposium on Mpox: evolution and clinical manifestation, jointly organized by the Department of Microbiology of the University of Karachi and the Association of Microbial Sciences at the KU’s Chinese Teachers Memorial Auditorium.
The DUHS VC Prof Dr Saeed Quraishy stressed to students to create mass awareness and to take maximum benefit of this symposium. He mentioned that mass awareness can help us resolve such large challenges faced by the health sector.
