Pakistan is set to roll out 5G services nationwide by June 2025. The launch schedule was presented in parliament, highlighting the steps required for the 5G spectrum auction, which is planned for April.
According to documents from the Ministry of IT and Telecom, recommendations from the National Economic Research Associates (NERA), the consulting firm guiding the rollout, will be submitted to the Spectrum Advisory Committee next month. These recommendations will focus on key reforms, including spectrum pricing, trading conditions, and taxation.
The federal government is expected to approve the policy draft in April. The auction of the 3500 MHz, 2600 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 700 MHz spectrum will follow in May. Meeting these deadlines will allow telecom operators to offer 5G services nationwide by mid-2025.
The IT Ministry aims to transform Pakistan’s telecom sector by providing high-speed, uninterrupted internet access. This step is seen as a significant move toward modernizing the country’s digital infrastructure and boosting economic growth.
