PM appreciates MWL’s support in promoting true identity of Islam at global level

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday praised the Muslim World League’s (MWL) efforts in promoting the true identity of Islam worldwide, emphasizing the importance of advancing the common goals of the Muslim world and encouraging mutual respect among various religions, beliefs, and cultures.

The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House with MWL Secretary General Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa.

Expressing his gratitude to the MWL Secretary General for his decision to establish the Sirat Museum in Pakistan, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing joint projects, particularly the museum.

He lauded the Secretary General’s thoughtful leadership and support in portraying Islam’s authentic identity worldwide.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed their collaboration for the upcoming International Conference on Girls’ Education in Muslim Countries, scheduled to take place in Islamabad on January 11-12.

The Prime Minister commended the MWL’s contribution in co-hosting this event, highlighting its role in sending a crucial message to the world about the Muslim world’s dedication to improving girls’ education.

Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for arranging the conference and for cooperating with MWL.

He noted that at the conclusion of the conference, a consensus-based “Islamabad Declaration” on women’s education in Muslim countries would be issued, marking a significant milestone in promoting female education.

The Secretary General also shared that renowned scholars from across the globe are participating in the conference, aimed at dispelling misconceptions surrounding topics such as women’s education and Islamophobia.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for the goals of the Muslim World League and expressed his well-wishes for the leaders of Saudi Arabia, reaffirming the deep fraternal ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The Prime Minister also condemned Israel’s actions against Palestinians and called for international intervention to address the situation in Gaza. The meeting was attended by senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, among others.
