An 8-member committee has been formed to review recommendations regarding government employees’ allowances.
A notification for the establishment of the special committee has been issued with the approval of the Prime Minister.
According to the notification, the committee will review proposals for revising employees’ current allowances, and its recommendations will be presented to the federal cabinet.
The notification states that Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb will lead the special committee, while Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division, Ahad Cheema, will be a member of the committee.
The notification also mentions that State Minister for Finance, Ali Pervez Malik, and the Secretary of Finance will be part of the committee, along with the Secretary of the Establishment Division, Secretary of Defense, and the Secretary of the Interior Division, who will all be members of the special committee.
Earlier in June, the Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet had given the go-ahead to establish a pension fund.
The approval was granted during the ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad.
The committee also agreed to implement a defined contributory scheme for new entrants starting on July 1 this year and for the armed forces starting on July 1 next year.
