KP Apex Committee decides to ‘remove bunkers’ in Kurram to restore peace

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Apex Committee on Friday decided to remove all bunkers in Kurram district as part of efforts to restore peace in the region. The committee also agreed to de-weaponize the area to further promote stability.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, was held in Peshawar and attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Peshawar’s Corps Commander, cabinet members, and other high-ranking officials. The committee was briefed on the current situation in the volatile Kurram region and the steps being taken to ensure peace.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured CM Gandapur of the federal government’s full support in achieving peace in Kurram.

“It is our topmost priority to ensure peace in Kurram. The federal government is ready to enhance the capacity of provincial law-enforcement agencies,” interior minister said. The decisions are part of a broader effort to restore order and security in Kurram.

Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi delivered a powerful message on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, highlighting the importance of equality, religious freedom, and the protection of fundamental rights for all citizens in Pakistan.

In his statement, Naqvi emphasized the timeless teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), describing them as a universal message of human rights for all of humanity. “Islam is a champion of human rights,” he said, reiterating the faith’s foundational principles of justice and equality.

Naqvi assured that every citizen in Pakistan is entitled to equal rights, while minorities enjoy complete religious freedom.

He underscored that ensuring basic human rights is the defining characteristic of any civilized society and affirmed the state’s primary responsibility to protect these rights.
