Pakistan’s Agricultural Exports Witness Significant Growth

Pakistan’s agricultural exports are showing remarkable growth, with the first consignment of tractors arriving in Tanzania, marking a significant milestone in international trade. The partnership between Kenya-Tanzania-based Maasai Tractor Company and Pakistani firms aims to introduce agricultural machinery in Tanzania.

This collaboration between Pakistani entrepreneurs and Maasai Tractor Company highlights Pakistan’s efforts to expand its agricultural machinery trade and foster global business partnerships. The initiative, led by the Pakistan Tractor House Company, aims to gain access to new international markets.

This development is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to strengthen trade relations with East African countries. Economic authorities view this as a testament to Pakistan’s manufacturing sector’s potential for international trade.

The initiative also aims to open further export opportunities for agricultural machinery to East Africa. The Saudi-Pakistani Business Council has played a significant role in promoting this trade and establishing global business relations.

In addition to agricultural machinery, Pakistan has seen a 25% increase in rice exports to Saudi Arabia in 2024, driven by the high quality that has become popular among Saudi consumers. Pakistan’s rice exports have reached $4 billion, with the target set at $5 billion for the upcoming fiscal year.

A comprehensive strategy focusing on research into improved seeds and quality agricultural practices will be developed to enhance production and quality. In the 2024 fiscal year, Pakistan exported over 6 million tons of rice, including premium varieties like Basmati, which are key to its global partnerships.

Efforts are ongoing to strengthen Pakistan’s position in the Saudi rice market. The Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistani Business Council praised the quality of Pakistani rice and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further establishing its presence in Saudi Arabia.
