Ryan Reynolds reveals future of ‘Deadpool’ franchise

  • Ryan Reynolds reflected on Deadpool’s future.
  • He views Deadpool as a supporting, not central, character.
  • He hinted at Deadpool’s return in other characters’ films.

Ryan Reynolds, synonymous with the wisecracking superhero Deadpool, has opened up about the uncertain future of the character.

Speaking on Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Reynolds reflected on his role in Deadpool & Wolverine, released earlier this year, and the challenges of balancing his professional and personal life.

The actor admitted that returning to Deadpool six years after Deadpool 2 (2018) was a daunting experience. “It (Deadpool & Wolverine) came six years after the last one. Part of the reason is that it swallows my whole life,” Reynolds shared. “I have four kids, and I don’t ever want to be absentee. I kind of die inside when I miss their competitions or moments.”

Reynolds also revealed that he views Deadpool as more of a secondary character than a central one. “You can’t centre him unless you take everything away from him. I don’t think I can do that again,” he explained.

Looking ahead, he suggested that Deadpool’s future appearances might be in other characters’ movies, adding, “Channing Tatum is so excited to play Gambit, and I’d be happy to play the fifth banana in his movie.”

The actor also expressed admiration for Wesley Snipes’ return as Blade, wishing for a similar reception for Deadpool in future projects.
