The Punjab government launched a free solar panel initiative on Sunday to provide solar systems to households consuming up to 200 electricity units per month.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari shared the details, stating that families using 100 units monthly would receive a 550-watt solar system under the new program.
To apply, citizens must use the dedicated portal and provide their electricity bill reference number. Renters will also need to submit a no-objection certificate (NOC) from their property owner, as the solar panels will be registered under the owner’s name.
A computerized draw will be held to ensure fairness and transparency in the selection process.
The initiative has been widely welcomed by citizens, who view it as a major step toward promoting energy sustainability and offering economic relief.
