Petrol, Diesel expected prices in Pakistan from April 16

Petrol price raised by Rs3.72 per litre for next fortnight

The government has raised the prices of petrol and diesel, adding to the financial strain on the public amidst rising inflation.

According to a notification, the price of petrol has increased by Rs. 3.72 per liter, bringing it to Rs. 252.10 per liter, while High-Speed Diesel has seen a rise of Rs. 3.29 per liter, now costing Rs. 258.43 per liter.

This increase is attributed to the high premium on petroleum products in the international market and higher import costs.

Previously, on October 31, the federal government had also raised the prices of petrol and diesel for the next fortnight. At that time, petrol prices were increased by Rs. 1.35 to Rs. 248.38 per liter, and High-Speed Diesel saw a Rs. 3.85 hike, reaching Rs. 255.14 per liter.

In addition, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced on November 30, 2024, an increase in the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for December.

The new price of LPG has been set at Rs. 254.30 per kilogram, while the cost of a domestic LPG cylinder has risen to Rs. 3,079.79, up from Rs. 2,999.47 in November. The hike in LPG prices is linked to the increasing value of the US dollar.

These changes, effective from December 1, are expected to further burden consumers already dealing with rising inflation and increasing fuel costs.
