ECB bans English players from foreign leagues during domestic season

The England Cricket Board (ECB) has banned English players from participating in foreign cricket leagues during the domestic season.

As per the details, this decision means English players cannot participate in the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

This change could significantly impact the players’ earnings during the home season, raising concerns that some may choose to step away from the red-ball format to play in lucrative leagues.

The ECB, however, believes that this move will protect and enhance the quality of domestic cricket. The ban specifically targets players with red-ball contracts with the ECB.

Additionally, the ECB has decided to prevent players from participating in any competitions that overlap with domestic tournaments like the Vitality Blast and The Hundred.

The ECB clarified that this decision aims to improve domestic cricket, although players will still be allowed to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
