Solar battery prices drop in Pakistan [Check latest rates for lithium, tubular batteries]

Lithium battery prices in Pakistan have dropped alongside falling solar panel rates with the start of cold weather. Reports indicate that lithium battery prices have decreased by 20%, with further reductions expected as inflation eases due to government policies.

Previously priced at Rs400,000, lithium batteries are now available for Rs380,000, while tubular batteries have dropped from Rs70,000 to Rs55,000, marking a significant price cut of Rs15,000.

The trend extends to solar panels, with the cost per watt dropping to a new low of Rs28 per watt, creating opportunities for more affordable solar energy solutions. Over the past year, prices have fallen due to multiple factors, and local suppliers anticipate further reductions.

Federal Minister Owais Laghari highlighted that Pakistan imported 8,000 megawatts worth of solar panels in just one year—equivalent to 30-35% of the energy produced by the world’s largest Three Gorges Dam, which generates 22,000 megawatts.

This growing market has prompted interest from companies planning to establish solar inverter manufacturing plants in Pakistan. Local production of solar systems is expected to reduce reliance on imports, conserving foreign exchange and boosting the renewable energy sector.

With declining prices and an expanding market, Pakistan is poised for significant advancements in renewable energy adoption, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
