ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi made key appointments to his office on Thursday, sources said.
Details indicate that senior private secretary Muhammad Yasin has been appointed as secretary to CJP Justice Yahya Afridi, while another senior private secretary, Muhammad Arif, has taken on the role of executive officer to the CJP.
Sources also mentioned that a new registrar for the Supreme Court would be appointed soon.
Justice Yahya Afridi was sworn in last week as Pakistan’s 30th Chief Justice. President Asif Zardari administered the oath at a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and all Supreme Court judges in attendance.
Justice Afridi will serve in this top judicial role for three years, following the recent enactment of the 26th constitutional amendment. The ceremony opened with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the reading of the official notification of Justice Afridi’s appointment.
