  • Marvel announced that Downey Jr. will return to the superhero movie franchise, portraying Dr. Doom, a villain.

Everyone has a unique perspective on AI, and recently, Robert Downey Jr. shared his thoughts on the possibility of Marvel Studios creating a synthetic version of him for future movies. Appearing on the podcast “On with Kara Swisher”, the “Due Date” actor explained that discussions around AI often follow “two tracks.”

Discussing the rise of AI, Robert Downey Jr. mentioned that he doesn’t dwell on it much, as he has a lot happening in his personal life and prefers to focus on his “emotional life.”

When asked about Marvel Studios potentially using an AI version of him in future movies, the “Oppenheimer” actor responded, “I’m not worried about them hijacking my character’s soul, because there are like three or four people who make all the decisions.”

Downey Jr. expressed confidence in Marvel’s decision-making team, stating that they would never consider such an option in his presence or even in his absence. When the podcast host emphasized a scenario where future executives might choose to pursue this option, the “Sherlock Holmes” actor added that he would “sue all future executives.”

When the host brought up a hypothetical scenario in which Robert Downey Jr. would be deceased and Marvel executives might choose an AI version of him, the “Iron Man” star emphasized that his law firm would handle the situation, assuring that he would remain “very active.”

Robert Downey Jr. first took on the role of Iron Man in 2008, giving a significant boost to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Since then, the actor has carried the mantle, amazing his fans throughout the Infinity Saga. In 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame”, Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark ultimately met his fate, sacrificing his life to save the universe from the formidable Thanos.

Recently, Marvel announced that Robert Downey Jr. would join the legendary superhero movie franchise once again. This time, however, the actor will portray the character of Dr. Doom, a villain. The announcement took place at this year’s SDCC.
