WhatsApp is enhancing its personalisation features for Android users by rolling out new customisable chat themes. With up to 20 colour options available, this update allows users to select a default theme that applies to all conversations, ensuring a cohesive look throughout the app.
In addition, users can choose different themes for specific chats. To do this, they simply tap the overflow menu within a conversation and select the theme option to customise it to their liking. This means users can have unique themes for personal chats, work discussions, and group conversations.
Importantly, the theme customisation is private; the selected theme will only be visible on the user’s device. Recipients will not see any changes, allowing for a personalised experience without affecting others.
This feature is currently available to select beta testers using WhatsApp version 2.24.21.34, with plans for a broader rollout in the coming weeks. This update is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and provide more options for personalisation.
