Afghan national arrested for plotting terror attack during US elections

Afghan national, Nasir Ahmad Tohidi, has been arrested in Oklahoma for allegedly plotting a terrorist attack during the upcoming US elections.

The FBI acted following an international report revealing Tohidi’s involvement in an ISIS-backed plan to disrupt the electoral process.

Authorities believe Tohidi, along with his nephew and other ISIS operatives, were preparing the attack. Investigations show that Tohidi sold his family home and father-in-law’s property, using the funds to buy weapons and ammunition. He also donated cryptocurrency to an ISIS-linked group in Syria. Tohidi confessed post-arrest to plotting a violent assault on Election Day.

Attorney General Merrick Garland reiterated the ongoing danger posed by ISIS and pledged to hold such individuals accountable.

This case underscores the rising global terror threat emanating from Afghanistan, with Afghan nationals involved in various international terrorist activities.
