SUKKUR: Station House Officer (SHO) of Bachal Bheeyo police station was martyred when two rival groups exchanged fire in riverine area of Shikarpur on Wednesday.

SHO Sohrab Odhu reached Chak area when he received the information about the armed clash between rival groups. The SHO came under the attack and he got injured when Jatoi and Maher clans exchanged fire against one another. The sources said that the martyred police official tried to get the fire stopped.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar termed the incident unfortunate and sought the detailed report from the SSP Shikarpur. The minister also order the authorities concerned to accelerate the operation against the dacoits in the Katcha area.

He said that the martyred police officer would be laid to rest with full official honour.
