For the first time, residents of Karachi can now purchase tickets for the Green Line and Red Line bus services using debit or credit cards, as authorities have introduced passenger passes via a smart ticketing system.
NED University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi, along with a member of the SIDCL board, inaugurated the service.
This smart ticketing system marks a milestone as the first of its kind for any mass transit network in Pakistan.
Hashmat Lodhi highlighted the benefits of the new technology, stating that Green Line passengers will now find the process more convenient.
“At all stations, passengers will have the ability to top up their cards using debit or credit cards,” Lodhi explained about the new smart ticketing system.
Green Line Bus Service Operations Manager, Abdul Aziz, confirmed that this facility has been implemented in the first metro service in the country.
Aziz further stated that bus tickets can now be purchased using any bank’s debit or credit card from this point forward.
