  • Heavy rains have caused a severe flood in Bihar, with major rivers like the Kosi.
  • The government warns the public to avoid low-lying areas, especially around the rivers.
  • Ranjan appealed to residents to stay away from the dam and follow the district administration’s high alert.

As heavy rains hit parts of Bihar, a severe flood has emerged, with major rivers like the Kosi and Bagmati flowing above the danger mark. The water levels have steadily risen for the past few days, prompting the government to warn the public to avoid low-lying areas, particularly around the rivers.

Rajya Sabha MP and Congress spokesperson Ranjeet Ranjan shared a video showing dozens of panicked people running off a bridge, screaming, as the fast-flowing water of the Kosi River begins to reach it.

“The river is in spate due to the rising water level of the Kosi dam. In this regard, my humble appeal to all the residents of Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Katihar, and Navgachiya is to stay away from the dam and strictly follow the high alert issued by the district administration,” he said, advising people to prioritize safety and stay alert as the water levels rise.
