Pakistan Railways has announced a 50% concession in rail fares for specially-abled individuals traveling on all express and passenger trains, according to an official statement from the railways on Monday.
The discount will be granted upon presentation of a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) with a disability logo.
Additionally, a 50% discount is extended to the attendants accompanying visually impaired passengers, the official from the Railways Ministry confirmed.
In contrast, on September 23, Pakistan Railways raised ticket prices for regular passengers by up to 50%. This fare increase primarily affects economy class passengers, with hikes ranging from 10% to 50%, adding a financial burden on citizens.
The fare adjustments apply to routes such as Karachi to Hyderabad, Tando Adam, and Tando Jam, as well as Lahore to Sialkot, Narowal, Narang Mandi, and Faisalabad to Rawalpindi. Economy class fares for short-distance routes up to 250 kilometers were also increased by 10% to 20%.
