KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Pakistan (MQM-P), a key partner in the federal government, on Sunday issued a stern ultimatum, threatening to withdraw from the government and resign from the assembly.
Mustafa Kamal, a member of the National Assembly (NA) from MQM-P, expressed his discontent, stating that the party has not been given the respect it deserves by the PML-N government over the past eight months since its rise to power.
Kamal criticized the federal government’s stance, accusing it of instructing MQM-P to negotiate with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) regarding the quota system, despite MQM-P’s initial agreement being with PML-N.
He highlighted that MQM-P currently lacks a mayor and urged the federal government to take responsibility for dealing with the PPP on their behalf.
Kamal also recalled the sacrifices made by MQM-P workers in restoring peace in Karachi, noting that many lives were lost in the process.
He cautioned that if MQM-P withdraws from the government, it could jeopardize the stability and peace in Karachi.
