Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has directed the immediate formation of necessary committees for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
During a high-profile meeting held at the National Cricket Academy, attended by key officials including Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer, Chief Financial Officer Javed Murtaza, and all PCB directors, Naqvi reviewed the arrangements for the multi-national tournament. He emphasized the need for clear definitions of each committee’s responsibilities to ensure timely progress.
“With the world’s top teams participating, our arrangements need to be flawless,” said Naqvi.
The meeting also discussed the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, where Naqvi acknowledged the local fans’ enthusiasm and mentioned the potential for hosting Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in the city.
Additionally, Naqvi stressed the importance of accelerating the stadium reconstruction project, ensuring that renovations are completed on schedule to enhance the viewing experience for cricket fans. “Once the renovations are done, spectators will enjoy the matches even more,” Naqvi added.
Earlier this month, an International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation visited Pakistan to inspect the venues and preparations for the Champions Trophy, which is set to take place in February-March 2025.
The delegation met with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and expressed satisfaction with the preparations for the mega event, ensuring that the stadiums would be upgraded in time and that all teams would receive comprehensive security.
