Earlier,  Lahore High Court (LHC) reinstated Lieutenant General Munir Afsar as Chairman National Database & Registration Authority(NADRA).

A 2-member bench comprising Justice Chaudhry Iqbal of the Lahore High Court heard the petition, in which the government lawyer appeared in the court.

During the hearing, the court asked which notification was challenged in the petition. On this, the public prosecutor said that in the petition, the notification of the appointment of NADRA Chairman of the Caretaker Government was challenged, the request of the petitioner was limited only to the extent of the notification of the Caretaker Government.

The government counsel took the stand that the petitioner never challenged the new role, a one-member bench comprising Justice Asim Hafeez annulled the appointment of Chairman NADRA.
