LAHORE: Renowned Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar, a former member of the ICC Elite Panel, has indicated that he plans to step away from professional umpiring by the end of this year.
Although Dar officially retired from international umpiring in March 2023, he has continued to officiate in domestic and international league matches. He is currently umpiring in the ongoing Champions One Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.
Dar recently suggested that he will fully retire from umpiring after this year to focus on a thalassemia hospital project.
Having joined the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires in 2004, Aleem Dar holds the remarkable record of officiating in 448 international matches, which includes 145 Test matches, 231 One Day Internationals, and 72 T20 Internationals.
He earned the prestigious ICC Best Umpire award three years in a row from 2009 to 2011. In addition, Dar has the distinguished honor of officiating in five ICC Cricket World Cups, seven T20 World Cups, and five ICC Champions Trophy tournaments.
