Pathum Nissanka hailed at historic victory of Sri Lanka

Pathum Nissanka’s unbeaten century led to Sri Lanka’s historic victory at The Oval on Monday.

Sri Lanka set a new record after achieving the target of 219 runs for the loss of two wickets securing victory against England.

Nissanka was 127 not out and Angelo Mathews was 32 not out.

Kusal Mendis made 39 runs and Dimuth Karunaratne made 8 runs before losing their wickets.

The wickets were claimed by Gus Atkinson and Chris Woakes.

This is the first test cricket in which an Asian team has achieved the target of more than 200 runs in England.
