On Thursday, Ukraine’s top commander announced that Kyiv had established a military commandant’s office in the occupied part of Russia’s Kursk region. He reported that his forces were still advancing, having gained up to 1.5 km (0.93 miles) in the last 24 hours.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, head of the Ukrainian armed forces, informed President Volodymyr Zelensky in a video released by the Ukrainian leader that Kyiv’s forces had advanced 35 km into Russia’s Kursk region since launching their incursion last week.
