Dubai, a city renowned for its bustling traffic, often encounters severe congestion, particularly during rush hours.
Key areas like Sheikh Zayed Road, Downtown Dubai, and major shopping and business districts frequently experience heavy traffic.
New Traffic Regulations and Penalties
To address these challenges and improve road safety, Dubai has introduced stringent traffic regulations and substantial fines for violations.
These measures are part of the UAE’s Vision 2021, which aims to reduce traffic fatalities from 6 per 100,000 people to 3 per 100,000.
Under the new rules:
- Reckless Driving: Offenders face a fine of AED 2,000, 23 black points, and a 60-day vehicle impoundment. The same penalties apply to those who endanger others on the road.
- Ignoring Traffic Signals: Motorcyclists and drivers who ignore traffic lights will be fined AED 1,000, receive 12 black points, and have their vehicles seized for a month.
These measures are intended to enhance road safety and ensure better traffic discipline across Dubai. By enforcing these regulations, the city aims to reduce traffic accidents and promote safer driving practices.
