Following Sindh and Balochistan, summer holidays for schools in the federal capital Islamabad have been extended due to hot and humid weather.
The Federal Ministry of Education has announced that summer vacations for schools and colleges in Islamabad will now continue until August 4, 2024.
A notification issued by the Ministry stated, “Because of intense heat and humidity in the Federal Capital district, summer vacations in ICT schools and colleges will be extended until August 4, 2024.”
All government-run and private educational institutions in Islamabad will reopen on August 5.
Last week, Sindh extended its summer break until August 14 due to the ongoing weather conditions. Similarly, Balochistan extended its holidays until August 14, citing hot weather and anticipated torrential rain and flash flooding. Schools in both provinces will reopen on August 15.
This week, parts of the country, including the capital, are expected to experience more rain, wind, and thunderstorms, further affecting the weather conditions.
The extension of summer holidays is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff amid the extreme weather.
