  • India crushed Australia in WCL 2024 semi-final.
  • Dominant bowling restricts Australia to 168.
  • Final against Pakistan set for Saturday.

In a commanding performance, the India Champions outplayed the Australia Champions by 86 runs in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024’s second semi-final, held at Northampton’s County Ground on Friday.

The victory sets up a final showdown for India against Pakistan, scheduled for Saturday at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium.

India’s comprehensive display with both bat and ball ensured a resounding victory over Australia.

Tasked with a formidable target of 255 runs, the Australian team struggled from the outset against a dominant Indian bowling attack.

Key Australian players Shaun Marsh, Aaron Finch, Ben Dunk, and Callum Ferguson were dismissed early, failing to make significant contributions towards the steep chase.

The Indian bowlers maintained pressure throughout, restricting Australia to 168-7 by the end of their innings.

Batting first, Robin Uthappa spearheaded India’s innings with a stellar 65-run performance off 35 balls, including 10 boundaries.

Following Uthappa, captain Yuvraj Singh kept the momentum going with a swift 59 runs from 28 balls until he was dismissed by Peter Siddle.

The Pathan brothers, Irfan and Yousuf, then took charge, forging a 95-run partnership that was instrumental in setting the challenging 255-run target for Australia.

Irfan Pathan blazed to 50 runs off 19 balls, while Yousuf Pathan contributed 51 runs from 23 balls. From the Australian bowling side, Peter Siddle claimed four wickets, with Nathan Coulter-Nile and Xavier Doherty each taking one.
