Pakistan is proceeding with efforts to sell off state-owned assets that are facing financial losses in a bid to stabilize its precarious finances. Recent reports suggested that Karachi Airport had been sold in secret.

Unverified online posts claimed that Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport had been sold for $1.8 billion, sparking varied reactions on social media. However, these claims were promptly denied by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).

As rumors gained momentum, a spokesperson for the PCAA dismissed them as unfounded. Aviation officials took to social media to issue an official statement clarifying that Jinnah International Airport remains under their management.

The PCAA urged social media users to rely on credible sources for accurate information and cautioned against spreading unverified claims that could cause unnecessary confusion.

Earlier, the Pakistani government postponed plans to privatize Karachi and other airports, granting more time for international and local bidders to conduct thorough due diligence.
