KARACHI: Dr. Farooq Sattar, a senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), stated that if the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) demands the resignation of the Sindh governor, his party would also call for President Asif Ali Zardari’s resignation.
Dr. Sattar argued that the PPP was sidestepping the main issue by demanding the resignation of Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori.
He commended Governor Tessori for his service to the people of Sindh, emphasizing that he has transcended party lines to serve the public.
Dr. Sattar criticized the PPP’s actions as “non-political” and accused them of trying to divert attention from the real issue.
“The PPP’s demand for the governor’s resignation is a tactic to distract from their own shortcomings,” Dr. Sattar said.
He highlighted that 50,000 children are receiving free IT education at the Governor’s House.
Dr. Sattar suggested that the PPP should acknowledge their mistake regarding the court decision and ensure that future recruitment adheres to the constitution and the law.
“If the PPP can demand the Sindh governor’s resignation, then the MQM-P also has the right to demand President Zardari’s resignation,” Dr. Sattar added.
Earlier, the PPP-led Sindh government called for the immediate resignation of Governor Kamran Tessori. At a press conference, Sindh Minister for Excise and Transport Sharjeel Memon accused the MQM-P of promoting “hatred and violence” in the province. Memon claimed that the MQM-P has become irrelevant locally, stating that their politics of hatred and accusations are outdated. “They are no longer visible at the Union Council level,” he added.
The PPP also criticized MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui for his remarks against former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto regarding the quota system. Defending Bhutto, the PPP leader highlighted that Bhutto made Pakistan a nuclear power.
