Following the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench’s direction, food and drink vendors in Garrison City brought the issue of price fixing to the Director General Prices. He assured the DC Rawalpindi to halt surprise inspections of restaurants until an amicable resolution is reached.
Mohammad Farooq Chaudhry, President of the Rawalpindi Restaurant Caterers Sweets and Bakers Association, stated that they approached the Rawalpindi High Court regarding the imbalanced bread prices. In compliance with the court’s order, the association’s delegation met with Asif Ali Farrukh, Director General of Industries, Prices, Weights, and Measures, Punjab.
Farrukh assured them that the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi would suspend price checks of bread in city restaurants until the issue is resolved.
The association had filed a writ petition in the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court challenging the bread price notification issued by the Director General in May.
