Karachi experienced scorching temperatures reaching 40°C, with predominantly hot and humid weather prevailing along the coastal areas of Sindh on Wednesday.
Jacobabad recorded the highest temperature in the province at 48°C. Dadu registered 46°C, Khairpur 45°C, Nawabshah and Mohenjo-Daro 44°C, Sukkur 43°C, and Hyderabad 42°C.
Frequent power outages compounded the discomfort for residents enduring the heat in Karachi, Hyderabad, and many other districts of Sindh.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist air currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are influencing southern and central regions of Pakistan, expected to reach northern areas by Thursday evening/night.
Under these weather conditions, most districts of Sindh are likely to experience hot and dry weather on Wednesday evening/night and Thursday, while Karachi and coastal areas may see hot and humid conditions.
However, windstorms, thunderstorms, and isolated rainfall are expected in Mithi, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Badin, and Padidan.
Karachi’s maximum temperature is forecasted to range between 40-42°C on Thursday and 38-40°C on Friday. Hyderabad is expected to reach maximum temperatures of 42-44°C on Thursday and 40-42°C on Friday.
