Ex-England skipper Michael Vaughan has recently praised Afghanistan as Asia’s second-strongest team following their momentous triumph against Australia in the Super 8.
The win on 23 June marked a milestone for Afghanistan, being their inaugural victory over the T20 champions of 2021 and the six-time winners of the 50-over world championship. This success has also raised Afghanistan’s chances of making it to the semi-finals.
Vaughan commended Afghanistan for their talented roster and the exceptional leadership of Rashid Khan.
“It’s no surprise anymore that Afghanistan produce performances like we have just witnessed … Extremely skilful set of players & brilliantly led by Rashid Khan,” he stated.
In a subsequent post, Vaughan remarked that Afghanistan has ascended to become the second-best white-ball team in Asia.
