The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to reassess the central contracts for the Green Shirts following their disappointing showing in the T20 World Cup 2024, which resulted in their exit from the competition.

The Men in Green’s performance was subpar, with only one win against two defeats.

Pakistan suffered a narrow defeat to newcomers USA in a Super Over by five runs and lost to India by six runs. Their sole victory came against Canada on Tuesday, where they won by seven wickets.

The washout of the USA-Ireland match on Friday granted the co-hosts a point, dashing Pakistan’s hopes of advancing in the tournament.

Pakistan’s final group match against Ireland will be a mere formality before the team heads home.

This marks the third instance of Pakistan being knocked out in the league stages of the tournament.

It is noteworthy that the players had inked a three-year contract on July 1 last year during Zaka Ashraf’s tenure as chairman, which included increased salaries.

Nevertheless, their performances have been lackluster in the Asia Cup 2023, ODI World Cup 2023, and now the T20 World Cup 2024, as well as during tours of Australia and New Zealand.

Per sources, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and other senior officials deliberated on potential changes to the central contract last night.

The board is now contemplating whether to maintain the players’ current salary structures.
